Burma, Her Story

Alright, so I've gotten around to publishing (with permission) my late grandfather's WWII story about smuggling his friend's dog home from the war.

I grew up with this story, and it really helped to put my grandfather into perspective.

Also, here are the whole declassified journals and everything else for the 88th Burma Banshees, which talks about Burma the dog and their decision to bring her home, as well as many other misadventures. Credit for this great tome goes to: Nicholas M. Boris, 88th Fighter Squadron Member, February 1942 to October 1945.

This is my working pitch (as of today): At the end of World War II, an American Air Force officer attempts to smuggle his late best friend’s dog back to the States so he can give it to his friend’s parents in memory of their son.

You can read more about the actual story here or on Amazon.

EDIT:
I am adding more scanned photographs and letters from my grandmother, Sue Blair. She was managing a theater while he was at war.

We also found some letters and pictures from a woman who is not my grandmother. But considering that my granddad was a good-looking fighter pilot with a motorcycle in the 1940s, I'm not surprised to learn he had several girlfriends at the same time before "going steady" with Sue. (For anyone under 30, at that time, that was socially acceptable.)
